Chinese Higher Education Development Network Annual Conference 2015 (CHED 2015) was held in Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China on Oct. 16-18 with the theme “Teaching Paradigm Reform: from Teacher-centered to Student-centered”.
The opening cerenomy was held on the moring of 17th Oct to the accopaniment of a prelude by BIT Traditional Instruments Orchestra. Prof. Pang Haishao, Secretary of Graduate School of Education, presided the activity. BIT Vice President made an opening speech and expressed sincere welcome to all participants. After the opening ceremony, Professor and Deputy Director of Huazhong University of Science and Technology Research Center for University Development Juming Zhao gave a 2-hour plenary lecture entiled “From Teching to Learning: A Paradigm Revolution——American Ungraduate Teaching Researches and Practices on Student-Centred in the Past 20 Years”. On the morining of 18th, Former President of IFEES Ms. Lueny Morell, Director of Centre for Teaching and Learning Enhancement Prof. Spencer Benson and Head of Academic Practice with Higher Education Academy Mr. Doug Cole respectively made plenary lectures which were interpreted into Chinese simultaneously. Apart from the four plenary lectures, 67 sub-conference activities in total were made by experts from all areas of higher education.
This conference attracted nearly 700 participants from Mainland China, Honkong, Macau, Taiwan , the U.S. and the UK, who expressed that the conference were of great help to their work and university development. “It is a chance for us to improve our teaching culture” said a teacher from a neighbouring university.
